We are a small club where each player is not only important, but is considered part of the family. Our experienced coaches get to know and work with each player individually to enable her to reach her maximum potential while developing a team that trusts each other and competes at the highest level. In addition to developing the players' volleyball skills, we focus on overall athleticism to make each player more dynamic on and off the court.

The Valkyrie coaching staff are committed to our athletes and strive to maximize each student athlete's growth. Our desire is to see every athlete develop to their full potential both on and off the court.

We work hard to identify each athlete's strengths and weaknesses so they can develop the skills needed to succeed. We recognize that every player is unique and requires different approaches to excel. Being able to identify those needs have been the secret to our success.

Tonya Pearson

Coaching Philosophy

Tonya has been coaching volleyball for over 25 years. She has coached high school, club and junior high volleyball. She is Impact, CPR and first aid certified. What we love about Tonya is her commitment to her athletes and positive coaching style. She not only is a coach, but also a mentor to her athletes. Year after year, her teams request that she continue to coach them as they move up.

Nicole erickson

After years of playing volleyball, Nicole has focused on coaching both club and school volleyball for the past several years. She is a third grade teacher with a passion for teaching young students. She brings that passion to the court in engaging training drills that inspire athletes to be eager to learn and perform their best.
Coach Nicole is excited to help athletes becomes exceptional players and reach their full potential.

Taylor is a former collegiate level volleyball player and avid fitness buff. As a collegiate setter, she has intricate knowledge of the game as well as strong leadership skills. She works with her players to bring their play to the next level. Taylor has been coaching with Valkyrie for four years. In addition to coaching her team, Taylor focuses on strength and conditioning and works with our setters. Taylor not only teaches higher level skills, but with her degree in psychology she also works with the players to strengthen the mental part of their game.

Robyn McDowell

Robyn previously played volleyball at GCU. She has 18 years of coaching experience including club, junior high, high school and as an assistant coach for 3 years at Glendale Community College.

What we love about Robyn is her high energy, focus on skill development and commitment to the community. Robyn assists in clinics and skills training.

Jenna is a former Valkyrie player who is now joining our coaching staff as an assistant coach. Jenna brings with her years of experience, a positive attitude and supportive, energetic and fun coaching style. We enjoyed watching her play and cannot wait to see what she can do as an assistant coach.
